Grasping Sparrows Tail is a beautiful set of Tai Chi Chuan movements that can be used to develop many skills like relaxation, generating an energy flow for good health, building internal force and using the patterns for self-defense. Proper waist movement is the skill required to apply the patterns and an integration of body, mind and energy.
As the story goes, the great Tai Chi Chuan Master Yang Lu Chan used a form of grasping sparrows tail to defeat all of his opponents. Yang Lu Chan was incredibly powerful from practising this set many times over and over daily and became known as Yang the invincible.
We can use this set today to be powerful for combat but also to give us radiant health from the internal force built up from its practice. The internal force can be used to enjoy and enrich our life, making us stronger in body and mind allowing us to tackle anything that life throws at us.
